November and December Tips of the Week
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Uncategorized;1 CommentHappy New Year everybody! What better way to start the year than with November and December’s collated tips of the week?
“One of the most time consuming aspects of being a publisher is having to manually log into different affiliate network interfaces to view your statistics. There are solutions that enable you to check figures from lots of networks in one place. Most are US focused and don’t cater for all the major UK networks, but ones that do are Staagg and Affmeter. The former pulls statistics into a web or mobile interface and is free, and the later is a downloadable tool which costs $14.95 a month.”

More new starters? Yes, more new starters. Let me introduce them to you.
Sam Richards has joined us as the UK Head of Sales (as Florian has been promoted to Head of Agency & International Client Servicing – congrats!) He is a picture of Sam taken very close up to his face

Sam is from deepest darkest Kent, specifically a place called Crockenhill. Some quick facts about Crockenhill you ask? Well in the latter half of the twentieth century Crockenhill was an important area for growing peppermint. The village is also currently creating a habitat for badgers which is nice. Despite this Sam is looking to relocate closer to the office in the near future as it sounds like his commute is a bit of a mission.

Trolley Dashing
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Uncategorized;A lot of you will know that Sainsbury’s recently ran an affiliate trolley dash competition. Well last month Dipa and Eleanor from the CJ team accompanied the winner Andy Hibbert, Head of Partnerships at artemis8 to Sainsbury’s office. Note: Dipa was the one taking the terrible photo, Eleanor was the one trying not to be in the awful photo, Andy was the one who couldn’t care less about the photo, he had his eye firmly on the prize.
Here is the terrible photo:

CJU US 2009 – an interview with Luke Judge
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Uncategorized;Alas I was not there at CJU this year so instead of telling you all about how sad that made me I thought it would be much more interesting to interview Luke Judge of Net Media Planet about his experiences there.
So how did you end up at CJU US?
One cold winter afternoon in early January my CJ UK Account Manager sent me news of a CJ UK competition that involved me taking a photo of the CJ UK team photo (wow – that’s a mouthful – Editor’s note, you can read all about it here) in an interesting place or situation. After racking my brains for 0.315624 seconds and generating 215.897034 results I had the smart idea of taking CJ UK to Las Vegas for the week. The next day I was off to London Heathrow and aboard a Virgin Atlantic flight. THe CJ UK team were with me at every stage, occupying the space in my inner jacket pocket between the pen, sunglasses and cuban cigar.
A few days later I had a handful of great photos with CJ UK all over Las Vegas. Thanks has to go to the brilliant support provided by photographer elect, Magnus Nilsson, for his creative input and support.

August Tips of the Week
Author: Celia Dixon; Filed under: Uncategorized;
“Some affiliate networks have an invalid link tool. This allows publishers to determine if you are sending traffic to advertisers that is not earning you any commission. Use this tool on a regular basis to ensure you’re not losing valuable income.
In the case of CJ, this tool can easily be found on the page publishers see when they login. It is under the “Quick Tasks” section. You need to click on the “Review x click(s) from invalid links”.”

Right – thanks Hannah and Celia. I am back now so I will take the final slot and let you all know how it ended!
Day 5
- Peterborough – Lowestoft
- Distance Travelled: 115 miles (yes, that’s right, 115 miles)
It was a long hard slog over to the east coast, I didn’t finish until after nine in the evening. My motivation was to complete the task before the weekend so that myself and the ’support team’ could enjoy a little family time.
As it was so late I met with Lee Bromley from Submission Technology on the Saturday (they donated an absolutely amazing £500!)
Unfortunately Darren Loud who heads up the affiliate team was off with the flu. I had planned to interview him for the blog so instead I caught up with Director, Neil Durrant on Monday. Here is his interview:

Amazing – we have already exceded our £1,000 target and raised £1,050 for the Kids Company. Well done Jase and thanks to Julie Hegarty and Doug Scott for their generous donations yesterday http://www.justgiving.com/CJ-goes-mobile/
Jason is getting very tired but don’t panic! He is still going, cycling his little heart out. At the moment he has some company from Doug Scott which should keep his spirits bouyed. Here he is with Tuesday’s report.
Tuesday’s Report – in Jason’s words
- Sheffield – Lichfield
- Distance – 80ish (probably more as I lost count)
Tuesday started out much more smoothly then the day before. My meeting with Dominic Butterell and Nat Portman from Quidco started promptly at 9am at their offices.
Here is a little bit of information from Quidco about their operations in Sheffield.
"A large proportion of publishers I know own dozens if not hundreds of domain names. Later on they regret having purchased so many as they don't have the time to build websites for them. Also they don't attract the amount of type-in traffic they were hoping for. Therefore discipline yourself to only buy domain names that you must have.
Be cautious of hype-ridden new TLD releases. There is currently a lot of hysteria surrounding .co domain names, but they could end up being just as much of a damp squib as .tel, .ws and other TLDs. One thing many people are not aware of is a .co domain is seen by Google by default as a local Colombian domain; great if you want to rank well in Colombia, not so great if you wish to use it for a UK site."
