Argos Supplier Summit
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: CJ UK Events, Industry Events; No CommentsEvery so often we allow people to leave the CJ offices for important events and client meetings etc. A few weeks ago we allowed Roger, Cheryl and Tom out to go to the Argos Supplier Summit which was held at Wembley. They were joined by a few publishers and Argos’ other digital suppliers.
The event was a chance to discuss Argos’ website and promotional activities across all digital channels and to look at how that integrates with offline promotions. They discussed what they were seeing in terms of trends and then planned on how to capitalise on these trends. These events are key to Argos’ multi-channel success which was, in case you forgot, one of the two awards that they picked up at the A4U awards earlier this year.
The event also provided Roger with an opportunity to hold the FA Cup. He was very happy – look!
We are also allowing people out for the A4U Expo next week. We are sponsors and will be at all networking events as well as manning stand 20. We hope that you will be allowed out to join us – see you there!

Hello everyone! As Hannah is on leave I have the dubious honour of sharing the latest installment from Jason’s adventure with you all. But before I pass over to Jason I’m going to grab my minute in the spotlight and introduce myself. My name’s Celia and I head up the PR over at Commission Junction (and across ValueClick) Right then, where was I? Oh yes Jason…
Wednesday’s report – in Jason’s words
- Leicester to Peterborough
- Distance – 42 miles
Day four was a very simple cycle route, no meetings booked for the morning so straight off we go, the only difference today was the weather – rain!!!!

The tally is at £1,225 for the Kids Company so far. Thanks to Elaine from AllKids for her generous donation. http://www.justgiving.com/CJ-goes-mobile/
Anyway – with no further ado let me hand over to Jason for Wednesday’s report
Wednesday’s report – in Jason’s words
- Lichfield to Leicester
- Distance – 40.1 miles (ahh that’s better)
After a tasty fusion curry in Lichfield the night before and some sleep I felt ready to take on today’s much shorter offering. Doug was waiting in his kit when I arrived as his team were working away on his many enterprises.

Amazing – we have already exceded our £1,000 target and raised £1,050 for the Kids Company. Well done Jase and thanks to Julie Hegarty and Doug Scott for their generous donations yesterday http://www.justgiving.com/CJ-goes-mobile/
Jason is getting very tired but don’t panic! He is still going, cycling his little heart out. At the moment he has some company from Doug Scott which should keep his spirits bouyed. Here he is with Tuesday’s report.
Tuesday’s Report – in Jason’s words
- Sheffield – Lichfield
- Distance – 80ish (probably more as I lost count)
Tuesday started out much more smoothly then the day before. My meeting with Dominic Butterell and Nat Portman from Quidco started promptly at 9am at their offices.
Here is a little bit of information from Quidco about their operations in Sheffield.

We are 78% there in meeting our donations target! http://www.justgiving.com/CJ-goes-mobile/ Thanks to Simon T, Dave Thompson, Dominic Butterell for their generosity. Also a MASSIVE thank you to Submission Technology who donated a whopping £500!
Monday’s report – in Jason’s words
- Liverpool – Manchester
- Manchester – Sheffield
- Distance – Approx 81 miles (91 miles including the wrong turn)
Day one got off to an interesting start as my support team was in tatters. Wife (Helen) had food poisoning and child (Eve Rose) had a rough night so we didn’t set off until 10-ish.

First off – thanks to Skimlinks, Top Cashback, Tom Marler, Florian, Cheryl and Alison for their kind donations to the Kids Company. £215 raised so far which you can add to here http://www.justgiving.com/CJ-goes-mobile/
Jason is wiring in his progress reports back to me in CJ HQ so I had this waiting for me when I got in this morning. Apparently I have a photo of Jason in lycra to ‘look forward’ to later today. What a dubious honour.
Sunday afternoon – in Jason Baker’s words
So here I am, sitting in a restaurant in Liverpool’s Albert Docks after a near six-hour journey with my support team (wife Helen and baby Eve Rose – the latter being the reason for the long journey) and I am actually starting to feel nervous about the journey ahead.

Commission Junction is going mobile for a week!
From this Monday (17th August), our very own Mr Jason Baker will be taking CJ on the road for a week. He will be doing 5 (or 6, legs depending) days of cycling and meetings along the route mapped out below.
The plan is this:
-
10thAugust2009
It has been a flurry of events recently. It seems not a day has gone by without at least one of the team out a one event or another. We are rock hard at CJ.
First there was the night of two events, July 29th. We had Emmanuel and Ross at the A4U Roadshow in Bristol to represent CJ. Meanwhile, in another part of the UK, heroic CJer Matt Von Holtz stepped in at the last minute to DJ at the Network BBQ in London. Bleary eyes the next morning told of a good night and the 10 valiant CJ drinkers were rewarded with bacon sandwiches.
In more detail here now is Jason Baker, who will speak of last week’s Manchester and Edinburgh A4U roadshows. In the very unlikely event that you haven’t actually met Jason here is a photo of him looking like he is the most earnest man alive:

29thJuly2009
Hannah blogged a few weeks ago about the fact the CJ sponsored the Sway. For those of you who don’t know, this is an event which is organised by the Skimlinks crew and is a meet up for anyone interested in blogging as a business and making money from social media. I attended the event with Florian and also spoke.
