The Sway – what Jason thought
No CommentsHannah blogged a few weeks ago about the fact the CJ sponsored the Sway. For those of you who don’t know, this is an event which is organised by the Skimlinks crew and is a meet up for anyone interested in blogging as a business and making money from social media. I attended the event with Florian and also spoke.

Much excitement in the office this week and last as we saw the most recent in a long line of ValueClick “returners”.
Many of you will be remember Matt Ware who left CJ a year ago to join Shopping.com. Well it is with great pleasure that we now have him back in the ValueClick fold. He re-started with us last week and will be flying off to join ValueClick’s new(ish) Hong Kong office at the end of this week.
Here’s a nice photo of Matt.
Let us hear from the man himself of just some of the array of feelings he is experiencing on his emotional return:
So Matt….did you miss us?
Yip – I missed all of your smiling faces:-) I’ve always enjoyed the office environment at ValueClick. I’ve also missed the affiliate industry which has a really good vibe to it and some great characters. It’s a real place for innovation and that’s exciting to be around.

CJ is sponsoring Skimbit’s ‘The Sway’ event
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Uncategorized;CJ is sponsoring The Sway which is a meet up for anyone who is interested in blogging as a business, making money in social media and creators of content. The event is for networking, learning and collaborating with others.
The Sway is brought to us by Skimbit who use their publishing background to help others in the industry make the most of their sites. If you managed to miss it, Skimbit have racked up a huge tally of awards so far this year including three A4U awards and two NMA’s.
We are excited to be working with them the event which is on the 21st July in London. A couple of CJers will be there – confirmed is Jason Baker. If you want to attend as well you can register through their site http://thesway.org/

6thJuly2009Was it ever sunny? As London resorts to its customary gloom I hope to lighten the mood with June’s tips of the week!

“If you are building a website for which you wish to receive traffic from natural search, drill down to a niche or even specific product. It is highly unlikely you will rank well in the SERPs for “uk online bookshop” but you could do for “patricia cornwell books”. Register a domain name with the target keywords in it, such as patriciacornwellbooks.com, carry out extensive onpage and offpage SEO, and hey presto you could be ranked on page one in Google for the term!
Google’s famed Keyword Tool will help you find search terms to target.
Jason BakerHead of Agency Account Management and Publisher Development

“When you register or renew a domain name, do it for as many years as possible. Whereas .uks are restricted to two years by the registry Nominet, .coms and other TLDs can be registered for ten years.
Aside from not having to renew the domain name on a regular basis, a longer registration period has other advantages. Search engines like Google and ISPs like Hotmail are or will start looking at how long a domain name has been registered for and factor it into determining if the owner is more likely to be dubious or not.
Spammers often only acquire a domain name for a year or two and then move onto using other domains, while ethical website owners are more likely to register a domain name for a longer period of time.”

T’is an exciting day for I have two things to tell you.
First things first. We have launched a new offers portal which you can find on www.cjblog.co.uk/offers . This has lots of improved functionality including the ability to set up vertical feeds so you are only getting the offers which are most pertinent to yuo. Also, once you have entered your PID it is automatically entered into all the urls which means that you can just copy and paste. Take a look!
Secondly we have launched our twitter account. You can find us on http://twitter.com/CJUKNetwork.
We hope that you find both these things useful and welcome any feedback you have – just email me at admin@cjblog.co.uk

Summer BBQ
Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: CJ UK Events, Industry Events;12 of the biggest networks have got together to host a summer bbq for affiliates, advertisers and agencies. It is taking place on the 29th July and we would like to invite you to attend. The only stipulation is that it is only two people per company as there are space limitations.
For more details and to register to attend please click here. Not sure who is going from CJ just yet but would be great to see lots of you there,

"Advertisers: an effective way to get more exposure for your brand, generate increased sales, and encourage publishers to engage with you is to launch a competition in which publishers are asked to place a banner or text link to your website on one of their homepages. They have to email you a screenshot of the advert and the page URL. After a certain period of time, you will randomly select a winner from the entrants.
Many publishers will keep the link to your site after the competition has ended, and because they have emailed you, you can communicate with them to drive more sales for your business and enable them to earn more commissions."
