    In line with our involvement with the IAB’s Affiliate Marketing Council (incidentally we have just signed up for another year’s membership) we have sent the following communication to all CJ advertisers this afternoon. The purpose is to instruct advertisers on how to fill in all fields in our voucher code feed to enable affiliates to comply with the new policy.

    Recently Commission Junction has completed a voucher code feed which is now available to all the voucher code publishers joined to your program. The purpose of this email is to provide you with some best practices to get the most out of your voucher publishers and increase your conversions whilst providing a positive user experience for your customers.

    CJ Deep linking guide

    Author: Hildegunn Iversen; Filed under: Publisher Tips;

    We’ve had some feedback from our publishers about creating deep links on CJ and so we wanted to create a quick help guide to shed some light on the best and quickest way to do it.

    To start with it should be stated that not all merchants allow deep linking. Most do, but there are some exceptions which are normally due to limitations on the advertiser’s end or the way that they’ve chosen to integrate with CJ. For the majority of merchants who do allow deep linking this is how it works: Read the rest of this entry »

    Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Industry Events; Tagged as:

    The guys at Affilicon have contacted me to promote their upcoming events and have also given a discount code for CJ blog readers. They have the following events coming up: Israel – 1st & 2nd June, Stockholm – 14th & 15th October, Beijing – November 19th & 20th and Mumbai in February 2010.

    The event in Israel is an international one. They are expecting 1,500 attendees from America, Africa, Europe and Asia.  The split will be roughly 800 affiliates, 300 media/seo attendees and 400 vendors. Their focus is on getting together a truly international audience.

    If you are interested in attending and would like a discount code then let me know at admin@cjblog.co.uk.

    January’s tips of the week

    Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Publisher Tips; Tagged as:

    In case you missed any of them, here are January’s tips of the week consolidated for you. I am not quite sure why I only seem to have 3, maybe something to do with the new year. Anyway – here they are.

    Brezo Sanchez-Ocana  – Account Executive

    Search engines such as Google penalise websites with affiliate links in both their natural and paid listings. Some publishers cloak affiliate links. There are a range of methods for doing this, using Javascript, PHP and htaccess (the latter two are the best). You can read more about the various techniques here and here.

    After a week or so of heart-rendering pontification, our guest judge has decided who the winner of our launch competition is! Handing over to our adjudicator, Revolution Magazine’s Andy McCormick, to announce….

    “the winner is Net Media Planet who took the CJ team on a whirlwind tour of Vegas. Vegas is definately somewhere special and the Luke Judge and Magnus Nilsson had CJ in their thoughts throughout – taking pictures of the team on the plane, next to the roulette wheels and even in mini-Venice. I suspect (but don’t know) that cameras aren’t allowed in some of the extra ’special’ venues in Vegas, otherwise the CJ team would have been photographed there too! Enjoy the trip to Commission Junction University in California”

    Thanks Andy for being our judge. Thanks also to everyone else who entered – with special mention to Match.com, IHG, Credit Expert, Doug Scott and Rob from www.affiliate4travel.co.uk who all did really good entries. Now for our winning entry from start to finish.

    “Net Media Planet takes Commission Junction UK to Las Vegas for a week of fun! Luke Judge (Business Development Manager) and Magnus Nilsson (Head of Account Management) bring along the team for a tour of the Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas and also show them around town!

    Luke and the Commission Junction team on the flight on the way to Las Vegas!

    a4uexpo Europe

    Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: CJ UK Events, Meet the Team; Tagged as: ,

    Great news - we have managed to secure a sponsorship slot at their first European event in Amsterdam on the 28th and 29th April. As well as the sponsorship we will also have a stand which will be manned by staff from across the European teams.

    They have opened registration here with a great early bird offer of 179 euros for affiliates and 270 euros for advertisers, agencies and networks. This is available until the 28th February, but if you miss it and are a CJ client, don’t worry! -  just email me at admin@cjblog.co.uk and we get a 15% discount as sponsors.

    I just spoke to the a4u lot. I know that Matt is in the process of finalising the agenda which looks to be as interesting and diverse as last year from what we hear. Claire is also very keen to point out that YOU NEED TO BOOK YOUR HOTEL. Apparently there is a big Queen’s day celebration which means the city will be fairly full – so this is not something that you can leave until the last minute.

    They have organised some discounted rates at hotels which you can see here. I will be finalising who is going from the CJ team and where we are staying mid way through next week so will be sure to let you all know. I am personally really looking forward to it – should be loads of fun, particularly meeting with loads of different guys across Europe. Hope to see you there.

    Snow day

    Author: Hannah Luckie; Filed under: Uncategorized;

    Despite the snow a brave group of intrepid CJers have made it into the office although we are a little bit worried about getting snowed in. So… business as usual. Everyone not in is working from home so if the phones are a bit slow then email us and we will get right back to you.

    Hope you are enjoying it :-)
